As a rural business owner, you may have seen our last blog post about the unveiling of our rebrand at the Great Yorkshire Show, but the truth is, we just can’t wait that long. We want to share our new identity with you, and we hope that you love it as much as we do.
So, why rebrand and why now?
Let’s be honest, when starting something new, money is tight and when you’re not quite sure how things will pan out, asking our friends, or paying a recently graduated graphic design student to design your logo for a modest sum is the way to go. This is exactly what Jo Martin did when she found the confidence to create Rural Business Network. We’re now evolving into an independent community of support, guiding farmers and rural entrepreneurs throughout their business journey so it’s the right time to invest.
Who helped us?
Helen Barlow from One Line Studio very kindly spoke to members about branding at one of our events last year. Helen and her fabulous team only work with ethical businesses so we were delighted when she agreed to take us on!
As an eligible business based in County Durham, we applied to the North East Business Support Fund through NBSL and were successful in securing grant funding towards the cost. We are very grateful to John Atkinson, Business Funding Advisor at NBSL who supported Jo through the process.
What was the process?
Helen already had an understanding of what Jo is desperate to do, to curate a community of like-minded people to share inspiration, knowledge, resources, connections and support but Jo struggled with putting that into words (she admits, she isn’t the wordiest of people!).
So following a catch-up Zoom meeting, Helen provided some different ways of expressing Jo’s vision. Helen also provided suggestions for a new strapline to replace learn, connect, grow and Helen also provided us with 3 different logo concepts. These were then shared in our Facebook group and the popular choices were relayed to Helen.
